How the paperwork puts it

“Interest credited to the indexed account is subject to a cap rate, which the company declares and may change.”

In plain words

The most your cash value can be credited in a period, even if the index went up more than that.

Who runs Plain

Nicholas Miller, founder of Plain Life Insurance

I’m Nicholas Miller. I first looked into life insurance to start planning ahead for my wife and three kids, so they’d always be secure. Indexed universal life was what interested me, and getting a straight answer about it felt far more difficult than it should have. Plain is the clear explanation I was looking for, made for anyone who plans ahead for their family. Originally from Australia, I moved to the US in 2010.

How it works

First, read the plain version.

Start with how a policy works and what it costs. Read as much or as little as you like. Nobody calls you for reading.

Then answer a few questions, if you want to.

Your state, your age range and what you want the cover for. It takes a couple of minutes, and we check your phone number with a text code.

A licensed agent gets in touch.

An agent licensed in your state may call or text you about your answers. Reply STOP to any text, or email us, and the messages stop.

Straight answers

Are you an insurance company?

No. Plain Life Insurance is a trade name of Galubenra, LLC. We don’t issue, sell or service insurance policies.

Are you an insurance agent?

No. We connect people with independent agents who are licensed in their state. The agent works for themselves or their agency, not for us.

Is anything here advice?

No. What we publish is general information. It isn’t financial, tax, legal or insurance advice for your situation. A licensed professional can give you that.

Who will contact me?

Only if you fill in our questions and agree to be contacted, a licensed agent may call or text you about life insurance. Reading the site never puts you on a call list.

How do I stop calls or texts?

Reply STOP to any text. You can also email us at nick@plainlifeinsurance.com and we’ll pass your request on to the agent.

Do I have to buy anything?

No. Agreeing to be contacted is never a condition of buying anything, and talking to an agent doesn’t commit you to a policy.

What do you do with my details?

We use them to connect you with an agent and to keep a record of your consent. Our privacy policy sets out the whole of it.

Is indexed universal life right for me?

It suits some plans and not others, and the answer depends on your age, income and goals. A licensed agent can look at your situation with you.

Why don’t you show return figures?

Because what a policy credits depends on its caps, rates and charges, and those differ from one policy to the next. A licensed agent can show you an illustration for a real policy.
